JGI Uganda - Staff Profile

OSMAN AMULLA ANEWA, JGI/WILD PROJECT SUPERVISOR/MT. OTZE CFR

Osman is from Jonam, Nebbi district in North western Uganda. He is married and blessed with two children; a boy and two girls aged between two and six respectively. In 1998 he graduated with a B.Sc. (Forestry) Hons degree from Makerere University. Currently, Osman is the Project Supervisor for the JGI component of the WILD project, a community conservation project in Mt. Otzi CFR in Moyo district that is funded by USAID through WCS. He has relatively good project experience; especially USAID-funded projects where he has been actively engaged in community-based agricultural and conservation work. He has worked with International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) as a Research Assistant; Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in Gulu and Kitgum districts as Assistant Project Officer; TechnoServe Uganda where he was the Program Officer for its Lira/Apac program; and lately Director for projects with Alur Kingdom, one of the nine recognized under the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.

OSMAN AMULLA ANEWA

While with CRS, Osman through a scholarship from Kulika Charitable Trust, pursued a postgraduate certificate in development management focusing on development context and practice from the Open University in the UK. This background, together with his knowledge and experience in community and conservation work has given him additional skills in managing development and project work such as conservation that is often conflict-bound and therefore complicated in nature. He believes in ably using these knowledge and skills to harness both the available human and natural resources for holistic human development.
