EDUCATION PROGRAMMES

Future Education Programmes

Distribution of Materials to 6300 primary schools
JGI Uganda is committed to printing and distributing educational materials to 8000 primary schools locate in Western region of Uganda. To date, we have managed to distribute materials to 1700 of these schools. The cost of printing and distribution of a set of materials to one school is approximately $22.00US per school.

Secondary Environmental Education Programme

In 2009 JGI Uganda would like to start on a secondary level handbook that will bring knowledge about the Great Apes of Uganda to all lower level secondary students in Uganda. This curriculum will be interdisciplinary and JGI will be working with the Ministry of Education to ensure that it is incorporated into the National Curriculum. Students who complete the handbook will have a firm knowledge about chimpanzees and gorillas, including the threats to them and their habitat.
